Difficult to book vaccination appointments

The letter arrives in the post to your home address. It says that you should book an appointment for vaccination. But it’s difficult to get through to the health centre. And there are technical problems on1177. "Everyone can’t book an appointment at the same time," says the vaccine coordinator. She urges those who have received letters not to book an appointment immediately.

It’s been difficult to book appointments to get vaccinated over the past few days. Health centres will call patients to ensure that all available appointments are booked. But there is also a shortage of vaccines.

It can be difficult to get through to the health centre by telephone.

– And on 1177.se it says "technical problems". Then you can’t book appointments and there’s a shortage of vaccines.

”You don’t have to call the health centre on the same day, otherwise there will be a lot of pressure”

My confidence in the healthcare system is zero, says a Kristianstad resident who hasn’t managed to get an appointment.

Region Skåne is aware of the problem.

– We’ve been having problems on 1177, both yesterday and today. We hope that the problem will be sorted out during the day, says Maria Landgren, vaccine coordinator, on Wednesday.

She says health centres that have available appointments for vaccines should call patients.

– Letters to people in the age group 70-75 went out yesterday (Tuesday). That is 85,000 people. There will be a lot of pressure on the health centres if everyone calls at the same time.

– Therefore, I’m asking citizens to have patience and to call later. You don’t have to call the health centre on the same day, otherwise there will be a lot of pressure, says Maria Landgren.

Next week, 65-69-year-olds will receive their vaccination letters. Region Skåne's goal is to have everyone over the age of 65 receive their first dose of vaccine by the end of April.

According to Maria Landgren, 91 per cent of all elderly people want to be vaccinated.

Phase four of the vaccination programme is expected to begin in June, that is, everyone between the ages of 18-59. The goal is for everyone to have received their first dose by the end of July-August.
