”We do it to gain an understanding of the animals”Sara Nilsson, Public Health Educator
– Many of our children and adults are not used to animals and we want to show them where the food comes from, says Sara Nilsson, Public Health Educator.
– We do it to gain an understanding of the animals, how animals live and what they need in order to thrive, she says.
There are usually good discussions.
– About what we need ourselves to be healthy, what kind of food we need to eat and where our food comes from. And then there’s also sex education, how could a chicken come from that egg?
There will probably be five to seven chickens in total. After Maundy Thursday, the chicks can move in with Markus Jensen, Operations Manager.
The chicks will be in the warm egg incubator for a while, while they dry.
– Somebody will be checking on them, says Sara Nilsson..
