The new rules apply to public gatherings (from November 24th). But the Prime Minister hopes that the rule will become the norm in all contexts.
”Don’t go to the gym, don’t go to the library, don’t have parties”Stefan Löfven, Prime Minister
– Don’t go to the gym, don’t go to the library, don’t have parties, says Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.
– It’s the choices you and I make every single day, every single hour, every single moment, that will now determine how we’re going to get through this, he says.
Maximum eight people at public events
What does the ban mean?
You may not gather more than eight people for events where you need to apply for a permit from the police – which is aimed at the general public.
For example, theatre, demonstrations, lectures, concerts, sporting events.
What is not included in the ban?
Private parties, corporate events, gyms, swimming pools, libraries, restaurants, schools, buses, trains, squares, shopping malls and more.
What happens if you break the rules?
The police are able to cancel or break up gatherings that violate the ban. And whoever is responsible could get a fine or be sentenced to prison for a maximum of 6 months.
