County Administration Board agrees with municipality on Brobysjukhuset - 200 peoplle affected

Brobysjukhuset is used as permanent accommodation, but has only building permission for temporary housing, in the opinion of the TT-committee in Östra Göinge municipality. Now the County Administration Board has approved the municipality's standpoint. The decision means that over 200 people, including many families with children, must move out.

In November the licensing and supervision committee (TT-nämnd) made the decision that the owner of Brobysjukhuset, Lillehem Teknik AB, must stop renting out flats as permanent housing, only temporary housing, for example a youth hostel, was permissible. The owner had five months to comply with the decision, otherwise he would be liable to a fine of 250,000 crowns a month.

The owner has temporary building permission for temporary housing until 29th September 2023.

The owner writes that a fine of 250,000 crowns a month is more than what he draws in in rent from his tenants. In addition, more than 200 people are registered as living at Brobysjukhus - what is to become of them?

Many families with children live there. So the decision contravenes the Children's Convention, says the owner.

But the County Administration Board agrees with the licensing and supervision committee.

– It's good to have the County Administration Boards's decision in the matter. It shows the decision we've made is correct. And what's more, the licensing and supervision committee was unanimous, says Andreas Söderlund (M), chairman of the committee.

A lot of people, not least families with children, may have to move at short notice. What do you think of that?

– Well, people must live in acceptable conditions. If the owner of the property had written temporary contracts, this would never have happened. We follow the law, and it applies to everyone.

Lillehems Teknik AB can lodge an appeal the decision of the County Administration Board to the land and environmental court at Växjö county court. This must be done within three weeks.

Kristianstadsbladet has been in contact with Lillehem Teknik. The owner has no comments at present.
