Corona: Two care homes in Kristianstad to be inspected

The corona virus spread in two care homes in Kristianstad municipality, which IVO (the Health and Social Care Inspectorate) has looked into.The two homes, along with another 89 in Sweden, will be inspected in more detail.

– I see this inspection as something positive. It gives us an opportunity to see what we did right and what lessons we can draw from it, says Emelie Nyberg (M), chairman of the Care Board in Kristianstad municipality.

The purpose of the inspection is to find out why certain care homes have had a high number of deaths due to covid-19. IVO has asked to see case histories from the care homes in order to examine them more closely. And two of them are from Kristianstad municipality.

– Different care homes around the country have been affected more or less seriously.The investigation will show what we could have done differently, says Emelie Nyberg.

– Everything happened so quickly.

Another four care homes in Skåne are to be included in IVO’s special investigation. Two of them are in Burlöv and two in Malmö.
