Corona: Eleven dead in two weeks – the amount of infected has nearly doubled
In two weeks eleven people with covid-19 have died in Skåne.
– Now it’s serious! Stay at home if you are sick, keep distances and do what you can to minimize the spread of infection, says doctor of public health and infectious disease Eva Melander during Region Skåne’s press conference on Wednesday.
Most are vaccinated today. It protects against serious illness and prevents the infection from spreading.
Those who become seriously ill today are foremost people who have weakened immune systems, are immunosuppressed, and seniors who have only received two doses. 90 percent of the deceased are over 70 years old.
Right now six people are being treated and cared for at the main Central Hospital in Kristianstad, CSK (Centralsjukhuset Kristianstad), of which two are being treated in the intensive care unit.
The risk for increased spread of the infection, has led to Kristianstad municipality’s decision to cancel a leaders day with 350 heads, at the Arenan.
This is what you need to do in case of covid infection
When infected with covid: From the 24th of November everyone sharing the household with a person infected with covid, should stay at home for seven days and get tested for covid-19. And that applies regardless of if you have symptoms or not.
Everybody over 18 years are going to be offered a third vaccine dose. Region Skåne is going to buy up vaccinators, who will help carry out this turn of vaccinations. As soon as the 65-plus are vaccinated, the next age group gets theirs. Just like during this spring.
Vaccination certificates: Requirements of vaccination certificates/ covidpasses for public events with more that 100 people are in effect from the 1st of December.
