Car explosion in residential area – National Bomb Squad called in

The police were alerted to a car explosion on Saturday evening.
Police and the National Bomb Squad were sent to Ekedal in Hässleholm.
– No one was injured, says Filip Annas, Police Press Spokesperson.
The incident is being investigated as destruction causing public endangerment.

The police received a call about the explosion at 9.57 pm.

– Someone had heard a loud bang. It was by a car, said Filip Annas, Police Press Spokesperson for Region Syd, shortly afterwards.

Five police cars were at the address and a cordon was set up.

The National Bomb Squad was also dispatched to the scene.

– No one was injured, says Annas.

The cordons were up until late on Saturday evening as police continued to investigate the matter. Witnesses were interviewed to obtain information about what happened. The police also searched for any cameras in the area.

The National Bomb Squad arrived at 11.55 pm. Kb/NSk's reporter on the scene was told that they searched a garden and the driveway of the address where the explosion is said to have taken place.

The National Bomb Squad was finished with their work shortly after 00:30.

Forensic technicians also worked the scene during the evening and night.

The police are classifying the incident as destruction causing public endangerment.

Has there been a threat against the car owner previously?

– I can't answer that right now, but it's nothing that has come to my attention.

There were still no suspects as of Sunday afternoon.
