Bomb squad on the scene following explosion in Hässleholm

The bomb detonated on Fredentorpsgatan. At the scene, police found that an object had exploded on top of a car.

– It is unclear what it was, but it was a small explosion. A car was the target, says Peter Frostlund, on duty Investigator with the police in Kristianstad.

– We will investigate what this is about, whether it is a firework, a home-made device or what it is we are dealing with.

Police have cordoned off an area around the scene where the alleged explosion took place and the National Bomb Squad has been called in.

– The bomb technicians are on their way from Malmö now, so it will take a while before they arrive. We have to wait for their analysis of the scene before we can give any more details, says Peter Frostlund at 5.21 am.

The National Bomb Squad arrived at the scene at 6.45am.

- They have begun their investigation. We will see what they make of it, says Jimmy Modin, Police Spokesperson, at 7.15am.

There were no injuries in connection with the explosion. On Tuesday morning, there were no suspects in custody as of yet.
