At least 80 new warders needed
The prison in Vä, with 96 places, deals with sexual offenders. There is a great need for more places. The plan is to extend with about 72 new places, which should be ready for use in 2023.

The new prison in Kristianstad will have 100 places ( 31 places today) when it is ready in 2024. It will be one of the biggest prisons in the south of Sweden.
The hunt to find new warders is on. If the prison is extended, 80 new ones will be needed. Many more will also be needed for the new prison.

Those who apply for a job must have at least a high school leaving certificate , a driving licence, a good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written,, and also some experience of working life.
The union SF says the median salary for a prison officer is 26,500 crowns a month. But salary can vary according to merit.
All new recruits are given 24 weeks' training.

Jobs in probation and the transport section will be advertised. Later there will also be some jobs for teachers, kitchen staff and nurses.
