The problem of streetracing at Ängamöllan is described as recurrent. According to complaints people race without permission on Kabelvgen in the evenings and at night, which gives rise to pollution by noise, unpleasant smells and litter.

One person writes to complain, among other things, that 'the windows rattle'. And it is impossible to get any sleep when the racing is in progress.

The problem has been taken up in the group that follows what is happening in the municipality, where representatives from the town and the police meet once a week.

– We must co-operate and take steps to counteract the streetracing problem, says Anna Nordin, prevention officer for drugs and criminality at the social welfare department.

Anna Nordin says the technical administration department is now looking into possible courses of action at Kabelvägen, which runs at an angle of 90 degrees through the Ängamölla industrial area.

When there used to be illegal car racing at Industrigatan in Kristianstad the street was reconstructed, with traffic islands to make things difficult for streetracing, which then came to a stop.

The police have been at Ängamöllan a number of times and reported illegal driving competitions on Kabelvägen which affects and disrupts businesses and people in the area.

– We are very conscious of all this. It's a recurrent problem, mostly on Friday and Saturday evenings, people call the police about it, and the tyre marks speak their own language. It is a stupid thing to do, it's one of the basics in learning to drive, and everyone with a driving licence ought to understand, says district police officer Martin Thornell
