28-year-old accidentally shot himself in the stomach – now sentenced to prison
A shot was fired from the weapon as the 28-year-old man – one of Kristianstad's more well-known criminals – was handling it. On July 26 last year, the 28-year-old was inside his partner's apartment when a shot was fired. He was hit in the lower abdomen and hip.
The fact that the man was wearing body armour didn't quite help him this time. The bullet grazed the bottom of the vest. He crawled down the stairs, bleeding. There, first responders found him after the girlfriend called 112.
The man has previously been victim to two serious knife attacks and survived, both of which were initially classified as attempted murder. One of the attacks was the one outside Subway in February 2022.
This time his partner was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Was she the one who shot the man wondered the police.
The charge against the girlfriend was later changed from attempted murder to aggravated weapons offence and the 28-year-old was suspected of the same crime.
This is because of the bullet and the weapon that were found in their home and their attic.
It is not like you can be suspected of attempted murder on yourself.
Now, after six months in custody, (the girlfriend, however, was released from custody immediately after the trial last week) the man and his ex-partner are convicted of weapons offences.
According to the court, they have – together and in agreement, in the apartment where both lived at the time, and in the attic of the apartment, possessed a loaded gun without a right thereto.
According to the verdict, the 28-year-old has admitted that he shot himself. The statement is strongly supported by the investigation and has been proven, states the verdict.
The man has now been sentenced to one year and three months in prison. In addition to weapons offences, he has also been convicted of drug offences and offences against the Knife Act.
