26 passengers on first BRA-flight: 'A little competition between us'
In the spring Skåneflyg announced they were discontinuing their traffic to and from Kristianstad Österlen Airport. The last plane took off on 25th June. But just over two months later it was time for a new take-off.
Now it is BRA, Braathens Regional Airlines, who are responsible for the route Kristianstad - Växjö - Stockholm.
– This is a little competition between our airports. We both hope we can get enough passengers to be able to have flights from both airports, says Jonas Haak, CEO of Kristianstad Österlen Airport.
Before this becomes a reality, BRA's solution is to let the plane make a quick stop in Växjö to pick up passengers. This is reckoned to take 20 minutes extra.
That the trip now takes 1 hour and 40 minutes didn't seem to put the first passengers off. 26 tickets had been sold for the first flight from Kristianstad, which took off at 06.20. The flight has been nicknamed ' the Fakir'.
