Three tasty Danish open sandwiches
In ”smörrebröd”, Danish open sandwiches, the filling is what is most important, so the slices of bread are small. Danish open sandwiches are easy to make – and delicious to eat.
The popular Danish pastries and cakes attract a lot of people to Café Haack. They come from Hääsleholm, Kristianstad and all around. The café is a place people like to come back to.
– Danish cakes and Danish food are what we focus on . Now i think the café has established a good reputation for itself, says Annegrethe Haack.
She opened Café Haack in Broby in 2015. In 2017 she was named ’Göing of the Year’
– We offer our guests our own take on cinnamon buns and American muffins, for example, and open sandwiches with fillings such as meat patty, egg and shrimp , potato, green bacon chicken, asparagus and bacon, says Haack.
Ingredients:
Danish rye bread, sliced, ( 2-3 slices per person for lunch)
Butter
A lettuce leaf for each sandwich
Filling to taste.
Method
Roast beef
Butter the bread and put a lettuce leaf on each slice
Place two slices of roast beef on the lettuce
Top with a spoonful of remoulade sauce
Garnish with grated cheese and roasted onion,and place a slice of tomato and a sprig of parsley on top
Shrimp and egg
Butter the bread and put a lettuce leaf on each slice
Slice a hard-boiled egg and put it on the lettuce
Place about 150 grams of peeled shrimps on top of the egg
Dot a little mayonnaise and teaspoonful of caviar/fish roe on each sandwich
Garnish with dill and a lemon wedge
Danish green bacon
Butter the bread and put a lettuce leaf on each slice
Place a slice of fried green Danish bacon on top along with some onions fried with a little sugar
Top with a slice of lightly-fried apple and finish with some fried onions
