"The problem is that people don't follow the advice"
Mewlid Kalinrih lives at Gamlegården. He is on the committee of Skånes Horn av Afrika.
– There are a lot of people in the over-70s group who do not follow the advice, and also among those with other illnesses, for example lung diseases, says Mewlid.
– If you speak to someone, no matter in which language, they have obviously been given some kind of information. Even in dictatorships people must follow the advice they have been given. Information has been given to all groups, even although their Swedish is not perfect. Extreme right-wing groups misrepresent facts to spread their propaganda.
”The disease has nothing to do with ethnicity, and it's unethical too to point a finger at a particular group”Mewlid Kalinrih
How is it that six Somalis died of covid-19 in Stockholm?
– That's a difficult question. But we don't know anything about the background of the others, more than 200 people have died. The disease has nothing to do with ethnicity, and it's unethical too to point a finger at a particular group. 0ne thing we can't turn a blind eye to is overcrowding. That is a greater risk, he says.
What do you think is most important at this stage?
– That you get updated several times a day as to what the authorities say. Folkhälsomyndigheten is a reliable source, as well as the media, and both local and national TV.
