Tenants want fair parking charges
Kristianstad
The new regulations apply as from April 2019.
– Gamlegården is a district in Kristianstad, so why isn’t it being treated in the same way as the town centre? Why should my guests have to pay to park after 6 pm and at weekends, says Mohamad Alsaed
Anwar Abo sel is critical of the difference in the charge for parking.
– 50 crowns for the first car and 200 crowns for the second one. My wife and I have two cars, he says.
– I’m a taxi-driver. Sometimes I have to take cars home. After 1st April that will cost me a lot of money, says Jasser Al-Hilal.
Jonas Rosenberg, head of information at ABK, explains that the municipality has its own charges and makes its own decisions on, for example, parking in the town centre. ABK has problems with derelict abandoned cars in its car parks, and also with people who do not live at Gamlegården who use the parking facilities there. So ABK is introducing a rental system , that is, the residents will pay for their parking space. Places will also be available for visitors.
To rent a parking space costs 50 crowns per month. Each additional car registered at the same address will cost 200 crowns.
Residents at Österäng and Sommarlust have had the new charges since April 2018.
Is everyone at Österäng happy with the arrangement?
– I think it’s difficult to please everyone in all respects. We try to do what is best for as many as possible. Our staff on the spot hear positive comments on the new system. As we see it, the majority think the parking situation has improved, says Jonas Rosenberg.
