Per Ljungberg, owner of Kippers Källare doesn’t see any problem with the new law.

– Our courtyard is a completely non-smoking area. Those who want to smoke can go out on the street, he says.

Some restaurants are worried that fewer guests will come, that they will go to other places, such as Copenhagen.

The municipality has not set up any extra ashtrays for cigarette butts. There is, therefore, a risk that cigarette butts will be thrown on streets and all over the place.

– Who’s going to clean up? We’re not allowed to have any ashtrays, says Per Ljungberg.

What the new tobacco law entails

From the 1st of July, you will not be able to smoke in outdoor cafes, playgrounds, entrances of non-smoking premises and other public spaces.

The law concerns cigarettes, e-cigarettes, refill containers, herbal products for smoking and water pipe (shisha) cafes.

Property owners have a responsibility to inform about the ban and remove those who violate the ban from the premises.
