It was on Monday evening that SMHI issued a warning of grass fire in the "Österlen" area which is a part of eastern Skåne.
– It is partly to do with humidity and partly because the dry grass from last year is so flammable, says Jon Jörpeland, Meteorologist at SMHI.
There may be a risk of grass fires even when the land is wet.
– The grass can stick up and is often dry. If you are going to barbeque, you have to be aware of the risk.
Is it common for there to be a risk of grass fires already at this time of year?
– From the beginning of February we can issue the first warning of grass fires. Above all, it applies to Skåne where there is bare land.
There is also a risk of grass fire in Blekinge.
