Several benefits from sorting refuse - lower rent, better environment
The question of sorting refuse can present problems for some new arrivals in Sweden. House of Beatrice, along with ABK, Renhållning Kristianstad, the tenants’ association and ABF, want to make Gamlegården cleaner and tidier by informing the people who live there about the importance here in Sweden of sorting their refuse.
_ Why do we sort refuse? First of all we must explain what we do, and then give people information about how important it is for everyone to sort their refuse, says Elisabet Björk from House of Beatrice.
What is the purpose of this project?
_ The aim is to teach everyone about the need to sort refuse and explain why it is important. For example, you mustn’t have any plastic round the outside of paper compost bags. This makes recycling impossible.
How do you explain this to people?
_ By working in the area, cleaning up, talking to local associations and holding meetings with parents.
Elisabet Björk explains why everyone must help with sorting refuse in the correct way, and tells us why it is so important that we all do it.
_”Sorting your refuse is important. The better you sort it, the easier it is to recycle, so that we don’t use up the earth’s resources.
_ Everyone must do their bit. Together we can create a bright future and save the environment if we clean up around us. And it keeps house rents from rising as well.
