At 10.30 am, Kristianstad's Arbetarekommun will begin with its live broadcast on the Facebook page "Socialdemokraterna i Kristianstad” (Social Democrats in Kristianstad). This year's local speaker is Chairwoman of the Arbetarekommun Ewa Pihl Krabbe, the opposition leader Anders Tell, MP Annelie Karlsson and Chairwoman of the LO-section in Kristianstad Catarina Palmblad.

– This is the first time that we’re doing this. We’re not cancelling, we’re adapting. The 1st of May is a sacred day for the Labour Movement says Ulrika Tollgren from the Arbetarekommunen.

This year there will be no 1st of May march. Stefan Löfven (S) will hold a speech that will be broadcast on Facebook and Youtube. This year's slogan is "A stronger society”.

The live broadcast begins on the Facebook page "Socialdemokraterna i Kristianstad” with local representatives and questions. The national speech by Prime Minister Stefan Löfvén and LO-Chairman Karl-Petter Thorvaldsson starts at 11 am.

Then the local live broadcast will switch to the national.

During the broadcasts, viewers can also ask questions via chat to local group leaders.

– We also encourage members to make posters and post pictures of them under the hashtag #plakatchallenge, so that we still get some sense of a demonstration, says Ulrika Tollgren.

In the Labor Movement archive there are no records of anything similar happening before.

– We believe that there has been some discussion about cancelling due to very bad weather, but it was then decided that it’s just as important to demonstrate in bad weather, as it is in good weather, says Monica Sparrman, Department Chair.

It would have been sometime in the early 1900s.
