Photographer from Hässleholm won Picture of the Year
– It went off better than I thought. I could hardly be any happier, says Jörgen Johansson afer being awarded the prize at the Picture of the Year gala in Jönköping on 16th March.
He has called his picture suite ”One day at a time”. He has documented his cancer and his battle against a brain tumour.
Jörgen Johansson is a freelance photographer, and has worked on Norra Skåne, Skånska Dagbladet and Kristianstadsbladet.
– Next year will be my thirtieth as a photographer. Photography has been enormously important for me, he says.
He started taking pictures for the suite ”One day at a time”, last July, a day or two after being told he had a brain tumour.
At the moment Jörgen Johansson is undergoing cytostatic treatment for his cancer.
– It's demanding. It goes up and down all the time. It's the most unpleasant thing I've ever experienced.
