The residential home, together with the rental apartments Sigrids höjd, the water tower and the KLF buildings have become a new benchmark for Knislinge. The large brick building with 36 apartments is ready.

On August 19th, two departments (24 apartments) will open. In total there will be 60 apartments. Everything will be ready by spring-summer 2020.

The apartments are 34, 5 square metres and the rent is 6,500 crowns. There are washing machines and tumble dryers in all of the apartments, something Stig and Anna-Siri Svensson are hesitant about, but they think everything is new and fresh. "Those who need to live here will probably enjoy it", says Anna-Siri.

One of the new things at the residential home is a department kitchen. There, the employees will cook for the elderly; something that worried some of the employees.

It will first start in November, according to Marie Holmström, Head of Unit at Västanvid.

First, the employees will attend a training course during the school holidays in November.

Pelle Persson and Municipal Manager Jonas Rydberg are satisfied with the department kitchen. When the staff gets to know the food habits of the residents, it can contribute to less food waste. And the kitchens will give it more of a feeling of home and well-being.

How does it feel with all these new changes?

– My staff are very positive. Obviously, some have a few concerns. We will take it as it comes, this has become a little mantra for us, says Marie Holmström.
