New Sudanese society in Kristianstad
Ilham Hamid is responsible for activities for women and children in the ”Sudanese society in Kristianstad”. There are seven people on the committee, of whom two are women. It is the first Sudanese society in Kristianstad municipality.
The society wants to do something positive for the future, both for people already living in Sweden and for people who want to come here.
– We’ve been thinking a long time about starting a society . We’ve always felt that there are lots of things we can do, Ilham tells Kb Mosaik, and goes on:
– We want to show the Sudanese woman’s role in the family and society, and work to develope that. And help Sudanese and their families in Kristianstad.
Among other things the society is planning activities during Ramadan and outings for children in the summer.
The society has around 40 members and meets at Genvägen 7 in Vilan.
– We’re like a family. We hope to get more women to join, it’s important for integration. I hope the society gets as many as possible to come together, says Ilham.
