KFC filed for bankruptcy: "We will solve it," says Chairman Andreas Andersson

There’s only a few days left until the premiere in division 1. However Kristianstad FC has been filed for bankruptcy by Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency). The association owes the state 998 000 crowns in taxes. ”It's unfortunate, but it doesn’t come as a shock. I am almost one hundred percent sure that we will solve this”, says KFC's Chairman Andreas Andersson.

The tax debt was up to 1,6 million this autumn and threatened the football club's future. Parts of the debt were paid off after a large rescue operation.

But now Skatterverket has applied to the District Court to put Kristianstad FC in bankruptcy. In total, KFC's debt to the state is 998 205 crowns.

– We are mentally prepared and will do everything possible to solve this, says Andreas Andersson.

– Skatterverket has been kind and believed in us and they still believe in us but have no choice now, he says.

According to Andreas Andersson, the solution is clear:

– We have been discussing this in the Board for a while now. Four people on the Board will take loans to settle the debt. And together with sponsors and the bank, we should be able to solve this.

Kristianstad FC has a premiere at home against Lund BK on Sunday.

Andreas Andersson is optimistic.

– I am almost one hundred per cent sure that we will solve this before this becomes a negotiation.

A bankruptcy would mean that the club must start from scratch.

Kristianstad's IK has also been in the same situation as Kristianstad FC. The hockey club had just over 1,3 million crowns in debt to the state. But the business community, sponsors and private individuals made a huge effort. The debt was paid off and Kristianstad's IK could breathe a sigh of relief.
