Hot jobs in Skåne – high school education is enough for many professions

Civil engineers, nursing staff, nursery teachers, IT specialists, electricians and chefs are some of the professions that have a shortage of labour.

But according to the Job Centre, we often choose the “wrong” education - we do not choose courses where there are jobs.

– If you have the right education, there are many jobs. And there is something for everyone, says Victor Tanaka, Labour Market Analyst at the Job Centre.

Many of the professions only require a vocational high school education. But few people choose these, he says.

The lack of mechanics, construction workers and assistant nurses for example, has increased.

– Many choose pre-university programs in high school. The same applies to the choice of university programs. They do not match the needs of the labour market, says Victor Tanaka.

In Skåne, the needs of the public sector are greater than in the rest of the country. This is because the population has increased a lot in recent years.
