Her fun way of presenting food may be best in Sweden
The children at Näsbygården nursery school are very lucky. The kitchen at their school has been nominated as ”School kitchen of the year”. And not only that – their cook, Ibtihaj Alarini, is one of ten nominees for the award ”Nursery school cook 2020” in White Guide Junior’s competition open to the whole of Sweden.
In Ibtihaj’s hands an uninspiring ingredient can be transformed into something that stimulates both the appetite and the imagination.
– If you don’t like something in one form, you can learn that it is good presented in a different way. That’s all part of our mealtime philosophy, she says.
”Ibtihaj really deserves it, she puts her heart and soul into her work”Åsa Adréen, team leader at Näsbygården nursery school
Ibtihaj Alarini is also involved in the Krav certification group, and she is a member of several development groups.
– Among other things, we have promoted the idea of ”the fruit or vegetable of the month”, a theme that nursery schools and schools work with in planning school meals. It’s a win-win situation.
Åsa Adréen is team leader at Näsbygården nursery school. She is delighted with both the nomination and her cook, she tells us.
– It’s tremendous, and we’re so proud. Ibtihaj really deserves it, she puts her heart and soul into her work.
White Guide Junior’s objective with the competition is to put focus on, and raise the standard of, the food that is served to children and young people in nursery schools and schools.
There are 13 different categories, including ”Nursery school cook of the year” and ”Nursery school kitchen of the year”.
The winners of the prestigious prizes will be announced on 15th September.
