Gratitude and joy during opening ceremony of activity playground

The new activity playground in Gamlegården is officially open. Millions of crowns have been spent on the project - which will soon be repaid with as many laughs and smiles. "Thank you very much, Kristianstad," says Shokri Mohamed, who lives in Gamlegården.

ABK has invested a total of 22 million crowns in this area. Seven of that in the activity playground.

– This is a great place. The hope is that citizens from other parts of the city will also make use of it, says Christer Nilsson (M), Chairman of ABK, during the ceremony.

– I hope everyone is careful with it. Now we will help each other take care of it so that all of this great stuff is not ruined, he says.

Hundreds of children and young people were there to play and socialise. This has been the case for a few weeks.

Maria Mohammad and Nour Ghabari had the honour of cutting the ribbon.

– This is great fun. The ropeway is a little scary because it goes so fast. My favourite is the slide, says Maria Mohammad.

The slide is unique.

– According to the supplier, it’s the first of its kind in Sweden. This is the only one, says ABK Project Manager Jim Westdahl who, together with Carolina Aouseus, ran the project.

Diana Svärd is pleased.

– I think this has turned out great. The only unfortunate thing is the noise at night. It’s slightly disturbing for those of us who live close by. But things will probably get better over time, she says.

Shokri Mohamed watches as her children Safa, Sarman and Salma play on the roundabout.

– I know that a lot of money went into this. Thank you very much, Kristianstad. It really is a nice playground. Everything feels so exciting, she says.
