Graduation: Only handing out of certificates and small running out ceremony is allowed
In both Kristianstad and Hässleholm, pupils will have their graduation ceremonies on the 12th of June. But it will be a very different kind of graduation this year. This is what Anna Ekström (S), Minister for Education and Johan Carlson, Director General of Folkhälsomyndigheten (the Public Health Agency of Sweden) announced at a press conference.
– It’s not the time to be complacent and lower our guard. It's not a normal spring term, said Anna Ekström.
Students will have to make huge sacrifices, she said.
– There won’t be any huge running out ceremonies to cheering crowds of family and friends, there won't be big balls, riding student lorries and big parties, she said.
Pupils may receive their diplomas at school.
– Some minor ceremonial features in connection with receiving high school diplomas may be possible, said Johan Carlsson.
A running out ceremony in mini format may be possible.
– If it can take place in class groups or in smaller groups. Relatives can meet up outdoors, he said.
– If no crowds are formed.
