From Nashville to a church in Broby
Emil Svanängen, Loney Dear, has played for Emmylou Harris and Metallica when the Polar Music Prize was handed out. Peter Gabriel calls him "Europe's answer to Brian Wilson".
On Saturday the 29th of February, Loney Dear will visit Broby Church, in Klubb Katedral.
This artist went his own way. Still called indie, but there is an audience growing – both at home and internationally. Emil Svanängen got the latest push in his career in 2017 when Peter Gabriel - yes, that Peter Gabriel - signed him to Real World Records.
When did you start playing music?
– With friends, at home in Jönköping. But when the first records were made, I was sitting in my student room in Stockholm. It has been a long process, from then until now.
Loney Dear is about alternative pop music, by a multi-instrumentalist with a voice that hits high on the record. Emil Svanängen says that he was interested in "technical music" early on.
On Wednesday the 26th of February, Emil Svanängen will be Jill Johnson's guest on SVT’s hit show "Jill's Veranda".
On Saturday you will go to Broby church. After the show, will you mingle and serve the church coffee?
– Haha yeah! I have Emanuel (Lundgren) with me. We both like different antics and new meetings.
