Forest fire reported

It’s very dry in the forest and on the land. On Thursday, a forest fire broke out by Lake Raslången, east of Immeln.

Six firefighters from Arkelstorp, five from Lönsboda, six from Sibbhult and Commander Jonas Nilsson from Osby were part of the force.

The fire was reported to SOS at 1.52 pm on Thursday. The emergency services from Arkelstorp, Kristianstad and Lönsboda responded. The fire spread to the size of a hectare (about 1.5 football pitches). A helicopter helped to water-bomb the fire.

– It’s very difficult terrain, with ravines and difficult vegetation, says Internal Officer Patrik Freij at around 4 pm.

By 5.30 pm the fire was under control. Work to extinguish the fire continued well into the evening. On Friday morning, after-checks will be carried out. The cause of the fire is currently unclear.

According to SMHI, there is a great risk of forest fires right now.
