Father of the dynamite was a pacifist – the Nobel Prize is awarded to benefit mankind
The father of the dynamite, Alfred Nobel, was essentially a pacifist. Tuesday the 10th of December is Nobel Prize Day. On that day several Nobel Prizes are awarded in Stockholm, in honour of Alfred Nobel.

Nobel Prize Day is Alfred Nobel's date of death in 1896. On that day the Nobel Prize is awarded in Stockholm. Nobel created a prize using the money he earned from the dynamite. The prize honours scientific successes that benefit mankind. In addition, a peace prize is awarded in Oslo.
In 2018, no prize was awarded in literature due to the turmoil in the Swedish Academy. This year Peter Hantdke and Olga Tokarczuk will receive the Literature Prize.
