Coronavirus: 35 new cases in Skåne today
– What we know is that it is all linked to travelling in Italy and Austria, among others. At present, there is no indication that the infection has spread in the community in Skåne. But we are prepared. We are planning for such a development, says Eva Melander, Infection Control Doctor at Region Skåne in a press release.
On Tuesday, Folkhälsomyndigheten (the Public Health Agency of Sweden) announced that the risk level for the infection spreading in Sweden has been raised to the highest level. This means that there is now a very high risk of the infection spreading in Sweden. Region Skåne is following developments closely.
– We all have to pull together. It’s now especially important to be careful about hand hygiene. If you have symptoms of respiratory infection, you should stay at home, not meet elderly people and others who are vulnerable, says Eva Melander.
Regional Director Alf Jönsson has decided that all operations within Region Skåne should avoid meetings, travel and conferences.
Region Skåne does not disclose information about where the infected individuals live and work with reference to patient confidentiality.
