Corona: Practice Swedish with someone online at home
Kompis Sverige is a non-profit organisation which matches new and established Swedes for video calls. It helps to reduce social isolation when more and more jobs and SFI schools have to be closed due to the coronavirus. Many people lose their everyday social contact.
– Kompis Sverige organises meetings where participants meet in real life. When that is not possible, we want to offer an alternative. We’re calling it Språkkompis Online, says Johan Bäckström, Operations Manager at Kompis Sverige.
It's hard to find someone to talk to if you don't know about each other. Matching is made simple. Anyone who is interested fills in their contact information and specifies which apps or services they would like to be contacted through. Then Kompis Sverige matches a new and an established Swede together and makes sure that they can contact each other.
– Many established Swedes are more or less isolated at home. They may appreciate the opportunity to do something meaningful in the meantime, says Johan Bäckström.
