Corona: Closed borders but food products can pass – ”Don't shop more than you need to”

Several borders to Sweden are closed. But this does not apply to food products for the stores. "It's important for people to understand that we have goods in stock," says Magnus Törnblom, Press Manager at Axfood. Ica and Coop also have goods in stock.

Several countries in the EU have closed their borders. Norway and Denmark have also done so. They want to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

In Sweden, about half of the food is imported. But closed borders are not affecting the delivery of food products.

– Transport and goods can cross the border. Although some products may run out in stores, we have goods in stock, and we’re also getting more goods, says Magnus Törnblom.

Axfood has chains such as Hemköp, Willys and Mat.se. Ica and Coop are also managing their supplies.

– It's like the week of Christmas or Easter, but twice as much. But there are goods. They’re being put out in the store every day, says Tarik Belqaid, Coop press secretary.
