– Last year there was just under 700 people that were invited. This year, there are 175 people that have accepted the invitation, but we expect at least 200 people, says Marie Färm, Head of Administration for the municipality.

Guests will be served coffee and cake, and they will receive a diploma. Each family will get a Swedish table flag; a musician will play summer music.

The Municipal Councils’ executive committee is responsible for the party.

– It’s very ceremonial and nice, says Bo Silverbern (M), Chairman of the Municipal Council.

Since the 1st of April 2015, all 290 municipalities have to organise ceremonies to celebrate the new citizenship. The municipalities can decide for themselves how and when the ceremony is to be held.
