Bomb threat on bus: Driver: ”Then he said,’There’s a bomb on the bus”
Shortly Before 11 o’clock on Wednesday the police cordoned off an area in the centre of Kristianstad. A bus was evacuated after a man had made threats. Bomb disposal experts were called to the scene.
The regional bus to Malmö was ready to leave Kristianstad bus station at 10:40. The driver, Ahmad Khasseh, was talking to one of Skånetrafiken’s inspectors. One passenger was already on board. Another passenger, a young man, went to the upper deck of the bus.
”I thought, if anything happens on the bus, it’s my responsibility. Everyone on board has a family”Ahmad Khasseh, bus-driver
– We asked him if he had a ticket. He said, ”There’s a bomb on the bus”, and then he jumped off the bus. I didn’t know if he was lying, says Ahmad.
– First I checked the bus, then I drove here from the station. But then I thought, if anything happens on the bus, it’s my responsibility. Everyone on board has a family. I couldn’t just put it out of my mind and drive off. I phoned my employers, and they told me to stop immediately.
The bus company Transdev called the police, who reached Hästtorget within minutes and cordoned off a fairly large area.
Ahmad Khassem has been a bus driver for a year and a half, but has never experienced anything like this before.
– I’ve been in Sweden for almost four years. Sweden has done a lot for me.
Were you afraid when you were threatened?
– I’m never afraid.
