Billionaire creates scholarship for pupils

Entrepreneur Henrik Persson Ekdahl from Åhus wants to lift young people with drive and ideas. He is now establishing a scholarship – with himself as a mentor, in Spain. Winner: one or more students in Kristianstad.

The scholarship is aimed at young entrepreneurs. It includes personal mentoring with the company director himself in autumn 2020.

Henrik Persson Ekdahl grew up in Torsebro and later lived in Åhus. During his career, he has set up a number of successful businesses’ in the tech and gaming sector.

The new scholarship will be given through a competition. Teachers in Junior Achievement Sweden (Ung Företagsamhet) choose a candidate UF-company from their high school. The students then submit a business plan that will be reviewed by a panel.

– I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue supporting young entrepreneurship. Of course, I think it's more fun to do something for young people who come from the same area where I myself grew up and went to school, says Henrik Persson Ekdahl in a press release.

Scholarship

UF-teachers from the high schools in Kristianstad choose candidates. Teachers will submit their business plan and nomination, no later than Monday, March 16th.

Only pupils within Young Company Kristianstad (Ungt Företagande Kristianstad) can, via their respective UF teachers, apply for the scholarship.

Winners will be selected on April 17th, 2020 during Kristianstad's Business Gala (Kristianstads Näringslivsgala).

The winning group gets to spend a week with Henrik Persson Ekdahl and his team in Marbella to work on their business concept and business plan.
