Barbacka’s 30th anniversary

Kulturhuset Barbacka is like a very own living-room for children and young people. Now Barbacka is celebrating its 30th anniversary. On 26th October there will be cake for everyone at 2 pm.

There are dance courses here for 4-5-year-olds and upwards. In all there are 16 dance groups, of which four are hiphop.

– The dance groups are very popular, says Lotta Vinberg Kronbäck, communicator at Barbacka.

There are some girls-only dance groups. And there have been boys-only groups too.

– It can be a big step to start dancing. Our aim is to have boys and girls in the same group later on. We want to build bridges, says Lina Campbell, who is in charge of all the activities at Barbacka.

The design club Kablab – the cabinet laboratory, in other words – Is open for everyone of 13 and upwards. Here the young people can be creative in their own way. Only a few came along to begin with, but now there are about 30.

Barbacka will celebrate the whole autumn holiday week, starting on Saturday, 26th October (open 11 am till 4 pm). There will be performances at 1 and 3 pm, and a whole lot of exciting workshops.

Kulturhuset Barbacka

There are 16 dance groups here, for hiphop, ballet, jazz, dance-games and modern dance, eight theatre groups, the Kablab design club, art exhibitions, a café and two playrooms for small children and their parents. In addition Kristianstads Teaterförening, Freja Art School and a community youth centre all use the premises.
