At the seminar in Almedalen: A good example of successful integration from Kristianstad
– Fast and smooth language-learning is crucial for integration and the community in an increasingly polarized time says Alexandra Pascalidou, who held the seminar in Almedalen on Tuesday.
During the seminar on language and integration, good examples were highlighted but also experiences where integration was less successful and why. The participants also discussed what is required for more actors to be able to take part in the work on integration.
The seminar was packed.
– Judging from the feedback, I managed to get across what the Kristianstad model is about in a way that everyone understood. So it feels good, says Kent Angergård after the seminar.
550 people study SFI at Folkuniversitetet in Kristianstad. Since the Kristianstad model started in May 2017, about 40 people have completed their training courses at various workplaces.
The training courses are six months long.
– We have 25 people who have got a job with "our" companies, meaning 55% of those who have finished training, which is a very good result. Others have certainly also become more employable, he says.
Today, ten companies are affiliated with the Kristianstad model. This includes Absolute, Ica Maxi, Citygross, Mio, Bobcat, Culinar, Malmberg's water, Wikan personnel, Matoro and Starka.
– Companies see a new recruitment base in this. The second part, which is extremely important, is that it’s a way of combating social exclusion by getting new arrivals into work, says Kent Angergård, who has good contacts in the business sector.
The Organiser for the seminar was Folkuniversitetet.
