The trial ended on the 6th of February. There has been a pause in the negotiations in the District Court while the 30-year old underwent a forensic psychiatric examination.

He is suspected of murdering his partner in April 2018. The doctors' conclusion is that the 30-year-old was not seriously mentally disturbed when his partner was killed.

District prosecutor Martin Hansson is calling for life imprisonment for the 30-year-old. Secondly, the sentence should be about 16 years.

- Men's violence against women is a big and serious problem in Sweden. This is about domestic violence. The murdered woman was subjected to extreme violence by her partner in her home, said Martin Hansson during the trial.

She was subjected to violence on her upper body and mainly to her throat. The abuse was carried out in several places in the house.

The 30-year-old’s defence counsel, lawyer Björn Hurtig, has called for the 30-year-old to be completely cleared of the murder charge. He was attacked by his partner who was furious. He did not have time to escape and so he fought for his life, he acted in self-defence.

Secondly, Hurtig has called for the 30-year old to be sentenced for manslaughter and a sentence of eight years in prison.

The District Court will deliver its verdict in a week.
