20,000 visitors - and no known incidents
Johan Jönsson, who is in charge of events in the town centre, looks pleased with himself in the sunshine as he sums up the town festival. Last year about 15,000 people were there.
– At a guess, we had about 20,000 visitors to the festival this year. We haven’t the exact figures yet, but we’ve spoken to officials at the gates. And we could see for ourselves that there were more people than last year, says Johan Jönsson.
On Monday he was in touch with the police, who said they had not received any reports of brawls or other incidents in connection with the town festival.
– That’s something to be really pleased about.
Municipal police office Veronica Gustafsson tells Kristianstadsbladet that the festival was ”unbelievably quiet”.
– We’ve hardly had to discuss it at all. The town festival hasn’t given rise to any reports of disturbances, as far as I know. It’s great that everything went off so well.
Veronica Gustafsson thinks that the limited space can be partly responsible, as well as the fact that there were lots of families with young children.
– That calms things down.
She praises the restaurant owners as well.
– They know what they’re doing, and don’t give people too much to drink, so there aren’t so many problems with drunkenness. The restaurant owners do a good job.
