14 Christmas trees reduced to five this year – The money saved will go to speedometers
On the 29th of November, Christmas lights will be switched on in Östra Göinge. There is a map on the municipality's website which shows where they are located. One resident has responded to the map.
“There are no Christmas trees in Immeln, Hjärsås and Hanaskog. Will these villages have no Christmas tree this year? Just think about all the children that live here. Tell me there has been a mistake. You’re not saving money for your new municipal building are you?” The person writes to the municipality.
The explanation is that the municipality needs to save. Therefore, only Broby, Knislinge, Hanaskog, Sibbhult and Glimåkra will have a Christmas tree.
The municipality will save 100,000 crowns.
– We have invested the money in measures that reduce the speed. We are going to buy three digitised speedometers. They will be set up in different places in the municipality. These have proven to have a good effect on reducing speed, says Mikael Torberntsson, Head of Operations at the Community Planning Office.
Christmas lights will be lit until the 13th of January.
