Top marks for Goinge Forward

An insistence on speaking as much Swedish as possible, and good matching to employers. Building up knowledge and building bridges builds success. That is how Goinge Forward project has worked. The project shows an excellent result, which is documented in an evaluation.

On Wednesday the final conference in the Goinge Forward project was held. Broby Folkets Hus was packed with people from several municipalties who wanted to hear the result of the project. How Östra Göinge has worked to get new arrivals and others who are far from the labour market out into a job, or studies.

From the stage, Dheya Kadhem, who works as a language developer, Nikan Nejarbaneh, Moneeb Hadari and Hadia Al-Jandari talked about their experiences from the project.

– Getting involved in Goinge Forward was the best thing I've done. I got a job, didn't I? said Hadia Al-Jandali. Now she works as an extra resource at Glimåkra school.

”The best thing I've ever done”, says Hadia Al-Jandari about Goinge Forward. Now she works at Glimåkra school as an extra resource and studies basic Swedish at level 3. Dheya Kadhem sits next to her.

To begin with, Haneeb Hadari didn't want to learn Swedish, but he had second thoughts. Today he speaks good Swedish.

– I was very proud of my English. I had 14 years of experience of English in several countries. There's a big difference in what my life is like today and how I think. After two years with different activities, my self-confidence has increased, I started from minus, he says. Now he is a project leader.

The project has been running since 2016. EU's social fund has contributed money.

87 similar projects in the country have managed to get 33 per cent into job or studies. ”You are doing a damned good job”, says Joakim Tranquist, who has evaluated Goinge Forward.

Joakim Tranquist has evaluated the project. He says that he has followed ”a large number” of similar EU projects. He said that to begin with Goinge Forward was unsatisfactory, it was like an isolated island. Participants had no ”proper activities”. But now the project shows very good results.

The aim was to get 20 per cent of the participants (263 persons) to find a job or begin to study. This is the aim other similar projects have. Goinge Forward has managed to get 56 per cent out into a job or to start studing.

One important factor is that the project has worked consciously to share information with employers and match participants to emplyers. The municipality has also organised 74 extra jobs.

– I congratulate you for doing a good job and showing such an exciting development, said Joakim Tranquist.

The project has come to an end. Goinge Forward will now become part of Östra Göinge municipality's employment unit.
