The Children and Education administration has urged parents to notify the school in good time if their children are fasting.

- We want to know which pupils are fasting. We want to know this in order to be able to quickly pick up if there is someone who does not feel good as a result of their fast, says Kenth Olsson, Head of Administration.

- It is our responsibility how children feel while they are in school.

The administration is clear about the fact that compulsory school attendance applies. It is important that guardians consider how fasting can affect the children's ability to follow the teaching and focus on learning.

The school will contact guardians if their children cannot concentrate or are very tired in school.

- In this way, parents are reminded to give their children an extra nutritious breakfast because they then cannot eat or drink during daylight hours, says Kenth Olsson.

- There is religious freedom in Sweden, but at the same time we have laws and regulations in schools to comply with. Here, there must also not be any religious elements, he says.
