Girl injured when large stone thrown at police

Two people on a scooter threw a 1.7 kilo stone at the police. An 11-year-old girl was injured. The incident took place between Göingegatan and Albogatan on Monday evening at 8.30 pm. “We want to find out who threw the stones. We want to emphasise that this kind of incident is unacceptable, either by the police or society in general,” says Police Inspector Åsa Svärd. Police are searching for witnesses.

The perpetrators saw that a girl was injured. Yet they turned back and threw another stone. That stone was even bigger, but it did not hit anyone.

– We in the police think this is totally unacceptable. We have also talked to some people who live in the area. They think it’s terrible that their children are getting into trouble, says Åsa Svärd.

According to the police, it was a dark-skinned and a light-skinned perpetrator who drove/rode a black/grey worn-out scooter. They are boys or young men.

Do you know anything more about the perpetrators?

– We want to find out who they are. We want to emphasise that this kind of incident is unacceptable, either by the police or society in general,” she says.

You’re looking for witnesses?

– I am convinced that there are several people who know who did it. Throwing stones has happened before, but hitting an eleven-year-old innocent girl is appalling. She is lucky that she wasn’t injured more seriously, says Åsa Svärd.

The girl had to be taken to the hospital, her legs were hurt.

The incident took place between Göingegatan and Albogatan in Gamlegården. Civilian police and a civilian police car stood at Göingegatan 21-23. Curious children gathered around their car.

A black/grey worn-out scooter (mc or moped) came from the turning point on Göingegatan and passed the scene. On the scooter, the two perpetrators had their hoodies up. One had a white hoodie, the other a grey hoodie with stripes on the sleeves.

The police are taking tips on 114 14.
