Girl hit by car on Näsbychaussén. Parents are concerned about the traffic

On Monday a girl was hit by a car at the crosswalk by Fröknegårdsskolan. Several parents think it's dangerous to walk there. One dad wonders why the commune has not made the road safer.

On Monday a girl was hit by a car on Näsbychaussén outside the school. The police say she was not seriously injured.

David Jönsson has two children who attend Fröknegårdsskolan. He is worried about the safety of his children when they walk to school. Traffic on Näsbychaussén has increased.

– The commune has carried out surveys which show both increased traffic and higher speeds. Why have they not done anything about the problem? What’s taking them so long?

He says many drivers do not stop at the crosswalk.

–They continue to roll forward when people cross in front of them.

Therefore, he always follows his nine year old daughter home.

His partner Helene Svensson has been close to being hit by a car.

Henrik Wester, Information Officer at C4 Teknik, says that a study investigating what measures are required is underway. These will be developed by the beginning of 2019.

Mats Dragg, Head of school districts in the north says:

– There is a speed limit of 30 and an elevated crosswalk. During my 18 years of service there has not been an accident previously. The police carry out checks to see how fast the cars are driving, but unfortunately people do not follow the rules, he says.
