Fire cost Skånetrafiken 10 million crowns

10 million crowns. That’s how much the huge fire in Hässleholm on the 14th of August cost Skånetrafiken. "It's definitely one of our biggest disruptions in recent years," says Mikael Espling, manager at Skånetrafiken.

The cost of the replacement buses are an estimated 6 million crowns; they haven’t received all of the invoices yet.

– We brought buses in from the whole of Sweden. The entire industry has helped out, says Mikael Espling, Business Manager for Öresund train at Skånetrafiken.

On average, they have had 40-60 buses running every day to replace train services.

Mikael Espling believes that the disruption after the huge fire is among the largest that Skånetrafiken has experienced.

– It has affected an incredible number of commuters.

The fire has also resulted in a loss of revenue – many commuters have chosen to take the car or carpool.

– The forecast is a total cost of 10 million crowns, says Mikael Espling.
