More than 279,300 students have been accepted for courses in Sweden's universities and colleges this autumn. This is a slight increase from last year.

But at Kristianstad Högskolan the number of new students has fallen by 200 compared to last year.

Nonetheless Kristianstad Högskola tops the list of the most popular universitites and colleges in Sweden.

When the new term starts the aim is to have 6,300 students at Kristianstad Högskola, 200 places fewer than last year.

At the moment sixty per cent of the students study by distance, but Kristianstsad Högskola would like to see an increase in the number of students on campus.

The majority of places that have been withdrawn are in mathematics and science.
