Exhibition: ”Celebrate Democracy!”

A hundred years ago the Swedish parliament voted to introduce universal suffrage, the most important decision made by parliament in the 20th century. This decision laid the foundation of our democracy.

Now parliament is celebrating democracy in a four-year jubilee, and one of the programmes is an exhibition called ”Celebrate Democracy”. On 22nd September the exhibition will be inaugurated at Regionmuseet in Kristianstad.

The exhibition, which tells the story behind universal suffrage, will be opened by the Speaker of the Swedish parliament, Anders Norlén, in a ceremony at 2 pm.

At 3 pm there will be a talk on Nelly Thüring from Mala, outside Hässleholm. She worked in a shop at Hvilan in Kristianstad and was one of the five first women MPs in parliament in 1922.
