Every Friday after lunch, a group of protesters gather outside of Skåne Town Hall. They have been doing so since last autumn. They demonstrate for the climate, inspired by Greta Thunberg and her school strike.

Now Thunberg's strike has spread throughout the world. On Friday the 20th of March, people will strike for the climate under the banner "Global Climate Strike for Future".

In Kristianstad, the gathering will be at the entrance of the Skåne Town Hall at 1pm. The demonstrators will march towards Galleria Boulevard. There will be a speech and music. There will also be room for those who want to play spontaneous initiatives.

- Our goal is to show that the climate is the most important political issue today. It is important that there are free voices, not an organisation or an association that is behind it. We want everyone to have the opportunity to come, says Rune Stenholm Jacobsen. He is one of the private individuals that is involved in Kristianstad.

- We will influence them with the power to solve the crisis.

Since the UN’s climate summit COP24 started in Poland, involvement has grown. More than one hundred cities in Sweden will participate on Friday the 15th of March, together with several cities around the world.

The group that has been gathering every Friday outside of Skåne Town Hall is also growing.

- At first there was four of us. Now there is more than 20 people who gather every Friday, says Rune Stenholm Jacobsen.

The goal of the climate strike in Sweden is that the emissions should be in line with what was decided in the Paris agreement.
